☆3/☆5 Shino

Shino is currently of the very few playable Shadow character there is and has a curious niche for a frontline unit. First he has Guts+Tenacity, which is a powerful combo for any unit meant to take damage and then there’s his LB3, when done correctly and if you wish to exploit it further through Barrage, he can grow to be an unusually resilient unit despite his element and can still offer slight support through LB1, even if minimal. LB3 healing is better on 3☆ but more-accessible as 5☆, along with 5☆ having a much better Charge to exploit, measure which unit feels best for what you wish to do, but his skills will remain mostly defensive, Barrage and/or offensive buffs are greatly recommended, he will take care of the rest.

☆5 Valentine Shino

By taking everything the original has, Shino (Valentine) improves on every single aspect and adds some more things to it. For starters, his damage output is extremely consistent thanks to his element, allowing him to abuse Limit to the fullest if he wished and he can thanks to having Guts insurance in case you want to fully exploit it. After a good Limit nuke, he’ll be very quick to heal himself back up to a modest amount thanks to Regen+his passive healing by attacking, his attack range is excellent to fully exploit it, further pushing his self-sustained playstyle. That’s not all though, from virtue of his element once again, he holds no inherent weaknesses, meaning Tenacity will be fantastic to ensure he endures and pushes on however he wants, this and Guts can extend to his allies, allowing for really good supporting too. The only namely downside is that you must manage Limit properly and be on constant move with him, otherwise a huge part of his power is missing.

Highlights

☆3/☆5 Shino

Class: Bruiser

Gameplay role:

Pros

+ KO insurance through Default Guts to comfortably face the odds.

+ A nice LB1 Attack Up buff for his allies every now and then.

+ Traditional Tenacity by moving, increasing his standard survivability, paired with a fairly unique heal just by attacking from LB3, making his durability essentially better.

+ 5☆ enjoys the benefit of Omen through Charge, an extremely strong DoT ailment.

Cons

- Has no offense power by himself, especially since LB1 doesn’t apply to him, relying on his element for damage.

- LB1 may be good, but it has ho-hum proc rate and it happens only every level start, cutting its efficiency short and outclassed by others.

- His 3☆ Charge is rather subpar, especially in comparison to 5☆.

☆5 Valentine Shino

Class: Bruiser, Defensive Support

Gameplay role:

Pros

+ Tenacity and Guts for himself and his allies is excellent for a continuous resilience, helping him quite a lot thanks to his element as well.

+ Often switches between tremendous damage through Limit at low HP to quickly healing himself up thanks to his Regen and passive healing.

+ Has a few very strong ways to reach his Charge faster, it has a simple effect, but paired with Limit and his element makes very scary interactions happen.

Cons

- Offers purely defensive support past his own extremely self-sustained playstyle, his Tenacity has a loosely strict effect range past him.

- Wants to take damage for Limit if he wants to hurt since it’s his main damage source, especially true if he’s about to Charge.
