With another 5☆ on his list, {{Transient icon|Oniwaka|variant=Setsubun|rarity=5}} brings a strange form of support and sheer endurance in exchange of generally low damage, he’s extremely resilient thanks to two defensive buffs, Blessing and Guts as well as his element, allowing him to take a lot of damage without issueas well as ensuring anyone behind him to benefit from the rare Fervor and the great Barrage, something most offensive backlines welcome any time. However, his issues are also glaring, his archetype is generally unfavorable compared to allies who can properly boost their party’s endurance and his low damage is a harsh tradeoff for so much durability, making him a potentially good but progressively worn down last-man standing that won’t amount to much in the end if he ends up alone, his effective range being very narrow is also a bit restricting in what allies can fully benefit from his skills as well. All in all, his strengths are quite strong, but so are his flaws, playing around them is key to success if you wish to use him.

Overview

Adapted with permission from the Housamo Gameplay-Based Tier List. Remove this disclaimer when Overview is sufficiently modified.

☆3/☆5 Oniwaka

Oniwaka’s skill set is a bit awkward, needing to get hit in order to have Berserk up, which passes to completely discourage getting hit, LB2 is the ever-useful Guts KO insurance and LB3 is impressive, being able to save any ally in a pinch from incoming damage on demand, with an eventual guaranteed proc rate and a fantastic heal to get them back up makes him more than worth a slot if only for this fact. His Charge is there mostly to be approached by Berserk to hit considerably well, as any Fire unit, stay away from Water, his durability is mediocre-to-terrible and he needs backup to patch Berserk downsides. If his shitty durability is an issue, Horkeu Kamuy exists and can do the job much better despite his so-so attack range.

☆5 Setsubun Oniwaka

With another 5☆ on his list, Oniwaka (Setsubun) brings a strange form of support and sheer endurance in exchange of generally low damage, he’s extremely resilient thanks to two defensive buffs, Blessing and Guts as well as his element, allowing him to take a lot of damage without issueas well as ensuring anyone behind him to benefit from the rare Ardor and the great Combo, something most offensive backlines welcome any time.

☆3/☆5 Oniwaka

Class: Bruiser

Gameplay role:

Pros

+ Considerable damage thanks to LB1 Berserk, which also extends to his Charge.

+ LB2 Guts serves as KO insurance in case anything goes wrong.

+ LB3 is amazing, literally lifesaving for whatever ally is having a tough time surviving.

Cons

- Default becomes useless if he’s under Berserk since it discourages getting hit at all, even then, its effect isn’t too remarkable.

- His durability becomes terrible through LB1, it’s not hard to get screwed from one moment to another, what with having no way to patch it up past Guts.

- Past damage, Charge has either a good or useless effect depending on circumstances.

☆5 Setsubun Oniwaka

Class: Tank, Mixed Support

Gameplay role:

Pros

+ Having two defensive buffs, a passive healing buff and Guts makes him incredibly resilient against any kind of damage.

+ Able to provide Ardor and Combo to any ally behind him, allowing most backlines to approach both quite well.

+ Capable of quickly returning to the frontlines if pushed away thanks to his vertical movement, something he needs to consistently remain in the frontlines.

Cons

- His effective range limits the amount of allies that’ll benefit from his skills properly, especially considering it’s strictly to an ally behind him.

- His damage potential is extremely low due to his element and attack range, just barely higher than the lowest, being Seth who owns the title.

- His Charge has effects hardly worth noting, Buff Snatch is a feature that relies on enemies being buffed to begin with and said buffs being scaled, it’s made worse by the fact it’s from Charge so it’s quite hard to properly approach.

Gameplay Role

Example gameplay role breakdown.
