Juugo is a serious, steadfast Judo practitioner and club member attending a boy's school in Tokyo. A victim of the circumstances of his birth, he has been dedicated as a sacrifice to the serpent Yamata-no-Orochi, and is branded by a powerful curse. Orochi manifests itself in the clothing he wears, awaiting its chance to strike, when Juugo lowers his guard.

Juugo was born to a bloodline with strong spiritual power, which makes them ideal sacrifices to Orochi. By honing his mind and body through martial arts, Juugo has managed to suppress Orochi's curse, but he must maintain constant vigilance and composure, as when his emotions run too high Yamata-no-Orochi begins eating his spiritual energy and manifesting a physical form. He feels compassion for fellow cursed souls.
