Overview

☆3/☆4 Asterius

Asterius is mostly defined as a Crit-buffer for his frontline allies thanks to LB3, which offers a dramatic boost in damage to any who lack Critical, which makes room for a lot of interactions given it benefits a lot of the cast and can break a few others in terms of damage. Past that, he has Tenacity on demand, which he’ll need due to the fact he gets Berserk when hit, which can quickly cut his endurance short by a mile and make him much trickier to manage, though as a reward, he’ll boast of tremendous damage thanks to Berserk+Crit. Consider him as leader in order for his party members to benefit from Critical, given it only lasts for the turn it’s applied, as well as party members who can either benefit from Critical or help his durability through defensive buffs or the like, if you want to make him the focus of your party.

☆4 Island Asterius

Asterius (Island) is probably one of the (if not the) strongest glass cannons in the game by far. His Default is insane, he gets Critical+ at a pretty good rate by moving, it lets him kill nearly anything before it gets to attack. LB1 and LB2 are decent, a small heal per turn through Blessing and, if hit, a Defense Up is nothing to overlook and increases his otherwise middling survivability. Critical+ and LB3 Critical stack, if both do you will obliterate anything and everything you hit. His Critical+ also applies to his Charge, which thanks to its range lets you nuke a lot of targets comfortably. Just be mindful that he has no innate ways to defend himself past LB2, which still takes getting hit prior, Curse, Bewitched or any namely defensive buffs are greatly recommended as well as Insight/Concentration to bolster his somewhat on and off proc rates.

Highlights

☆3/☆4 Asterius

Class: Glass Cannon, Bruiser

Gameplay Role:

Pros

+ Traditional increased durability through Tenacity, which he’ll need in case his Berserk procs.

+ LB3 Critical to his horizontal allies and him ensures a dramatic boost in damage that nearly everyone (that lacks it) approaches, which paired with his Berserk, makes his damage ridiculous. Consider him as leader in order to approach Crit given its short-lived nature.

+ Charge can benefit from Berserk damage-wise and has a nice skill cast-nullifying effect that can feasibly shut down important targets for a while.

Cons

- Default is mostly a bonus that’s not going to be generally approached due to Berserk triggering when hit as well, which makes his durability awful.

- Because of Berserk, he’ll crave for his Tenacity in order to be decently durable, otherwise he’s as good as dead.

- Sadly, while 3☆ has an optimally better skill set, 4☆ approaches LB3 much better due to attack range, something that makes him worthy of a party slot and defines him the most.

☆4 Island Asterius

Class: Glass Cannon, Offensive Support

Gameplay Role:

Pros

+ One of the (if not the) highest damage output possible by himself thanks to Default and LB3, which stack with each other.

+ LB3 also applies to allies besides him, giving an exponential damage boost to units who lack Crit. Please consider slotting him as leader to fully approach it due to Critical’s short duration.

+ Default applies to Charge, allowing it to hit very hard and apply a decent ailment.

Cons

- Reaches his damage peak only if he’s moved around, proc rates can sometimes backstab you too, needing Insight/Concentration to increase the odds.

- His survivability is subpar without a LB2 proc and LB1 barely helps with it.

- Takes good positioning for his and his allies’ damage to be as absurd as it can be.
