☆3/☆4 Shuten

Shuten might speaks for itself, his skills are move-oriented and offer considerable payoff in the form of increased damage thanks to Crit as well as his allies’ thanks to LB3, which turns him into a formidable offensive CP battery and booster on top of his fantastic damage. Default helps him reach his Charge faster, which is there mostly to help him reach the backlines and annihilate anything in its path. Consider defensive buffs in order to help his endurance and pay attention to his positioning when going for LB3. Ibaraki shares a lot with him, but trades his LB3 for a great Charge and a more selfish playstyle instead.

☆4 Gendarme Shuten

Shuten (Gendarme) sacrifices the mighty Critical buff in exchange for erasing his Grass weakness with now being Light, and extending his range to Slash instead of Pierce, though this is mostly a bonus. Default is good for granting some CP to his allies thanks to Encouragement, which can add up to other more-common CP methods, his LB1 and LB2 help both his damage and survivability rather nicely and ensure he gets the job done for the most part. He retains the LB3 from the original version, which speaks for itself as a fantastic offensive buff and CP for his allies almost on demand. Luckily, he works for most parties thanks to his partial self-sufficiency, but falls short after a few turns in-battle if you take too long in a level due to his reliance on start momentum, making him preferably suited for rapid level clears.

☆3/☆4 Shuten

Class:

Gameplay Role:

Pros

+ Utterly high damage output thanks to LB1 and LB2, even through LB2 alone.

+ Gives Attack Up and CP almost on demand just by moving for his allies, Attack Up being an uncommon offensive buff to give to others, allowing for easier buff-stacking.

+ Acceleration allows him to get his Charge faster, which while it may not have great effects, has fantastic potential damage due to the aforementioned LB1 and LB2.

Cons

- LB2 obliges him to move if he wants his fantastic damage anywhere, it can be excused thanks to LB3, but if it doesn’t proc, his damage will suffer.

- Sadly, LB3 doesn’t apply to himself and needs adequate positioning to get the most of it.

- Naturally weak to Grass with no way to get around it, requiring defensive buff assistance if he wants to pull through.

☆4 Gendarme Shuten

Class: Bruiser, Offensive Support

Gameplay Role:

Pros

+ Default Encouragement can be useful for CP, even if its a short-lived buff, it still adds up with other similar effects nicely.

+ LB1 and LB2 Diamond and Herculean Strength solidify both his offensive and defensive capability nicely.

+ LB3 is fantastic for steadily boosting his allies’ damage almost on demand.

+ Charge has both a fantastic range, great damage thanks to LB2 and an effect that’s nice to push CP further.

Cons

- Literally ¾ of his skills are at the start of each level, take too long on a level, and he’ll slowly demote to nothing more than a buff-bot.

- Sadly, LB3 doesn’t apply to him, this is especially bad after he runs out of his own buffs.

- Fervor through Charge will only benefit allies with the CP bit, the damage buff is very minor due to it being from a Charge.
